Traveling along the Rift Valley: Selous Safari Camp

back

Selous Safari Camp is a very high specification small tented camp set on the riverine lagoon Lako Nzerekera, one of the best game viewing areas of the Selous Reserve.

The camp consists of 13 lavish tents splitted into two smaller camps: the north camp and the soputh camp respectively comprising 6 and 7 tents. The north camp can be booked exclusively [min. 4 max 6 tents alias min. 8 max 12 people].
Tents are well scattered amongst acacia and terminalia trees as well as doum plams in order to mantain an adequate level of intimacy. They are raised on stilts and designed with a wide front opening in order to enjoy both the view over the lake and the incoming breeze. The comfort offered is typical of high-end facilities: en suite bathroom with double sinks, hot water open sky shower, ceiling fans and 240v electricity, stylish furnishings, attention to details, two outdoor verandas one placed in the front of the room and the second one at the back of the tent
.
Both the north and the south camps are provided with swimming pool and sunbeds, bar, lounge, library and restaurant area raised on wooden platforms and there's no need at all to move between camps.

Activities:
Unlike in the norther parks of Tanzania activities in the Selous normally exclude early morning game drives: during the night animals tend to move away from the water sources and to move into not accessible areas of the reserve to hunt.
The camp is typically offering you the choice of two activities a day among game driving, boat safaris, walking safaris.

You will normally go out after breakfast and then return to camp for lunch. Relax in the hottest
hours of the day
untill animals come back again to the water sources. That is the moment for you to be out again untill dusk.

Game driving is arranged on openside vehicle normally shared with the other guests at the camp.
• Motor Boat safari are carried along the river and the boat is normally shared.
Walking safari are the only activity which take place early morning in order to avoid the severe sun: their aim is not to get as close as possible to animals but rather to observe their undisturbed behaviour.
