Safari 605L: accommodation in high-specification lodges and tented camps

Exploreans Ngorongoro

Colazione all'aperto, Lemala Camp

Wildebeest migration toward the Gol Mountains

Day 1
Visited park: Lake Manyara National Park
Dinner and overnight: Exploreans Ngorongoro
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport you will be met by your private guide and car and depart to Lake Manyara NP to enjoy a gentle game driving.

Day 2
Visited park: Ngorongoro crater
Dinner and overnight: Exploreans Ngorongoro
After breakfast you will depart with your guide and car to spend the day game driving into the famous caldera with picnic lunch. Since you can entirely dictate the pace you might decide to leave the crater as late as possible or to return to the lodge after the picnic to relax.

Day 3
Visited park: north-eastern sector of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Dinner and overnight: Lemala Camp Ndutu
This is a remote and little explored area which we love to include in our itineraries when rains have come to green up pastures. Game driving toward the Gol Mountains can be good for the wildebeest migration but also for predators. Unplanned encounter with members of the Masai tribe are also possible.

Day 4
Visited park: Ndutu and surroundings plains
Dinner and overnight: Lemala Camp Ndutu
Along with lions and one of the most relevant population of cheetahs of the entire Serengeti eco-system the area of Ndutu might give you the opportunity to sight some of the less common cats species such as caracals or serval cats or African wildcats. Since this is also calvin season, at this time of the year the presence of predators intensifies. Should migratory herds be scattered around you can head out with your private car into the vast plains reaching as well the remote Kusini, the southernmost tip of western Serengeti.

Day 5
Visited park: south-eastern or western-central and central Serengeti
Dinner and overnight: Lemala Ewanjan
In between one rain and another both the Moru Kopjes [western central Serengeti] and the Gol Kopjes [south-eastern Serengeti] are reached by herds of zebras, wildebeest, gazelles and antelopes. The former also host a resident population of buffaloes and lions are regularly seen on the top of the huge kopjes, the latter are renown for the high concentration of cheetah. In discussion with you guide and according to best game opportunities you will game drive through one of the two locations reaching at sunset the Seronera valley, actually one of the best spot in whole continent to sight leopards ...

Day 6
After breakfast take your last game drive in Seronera along the way to the airstrip. A morning flight will scoop you from here and take you to Arusha or to Kilimanjaro airport. Alternatively there are daily scheduled flights to the islands, to the southern parks [Selous and Ruaha] or to the western one [twice a week to Katavi and Mahale].

At Lake Manyara: dense groundwater forest, troops of baboons and blue monkeys, buffaloes, elephants and other herbivores, large flocks of birds including Eurasian migrants. If lucky tree-climbing lions.

In the Ngorongoro and southern Serengeti plains: Vast plains and remoteness feeling; off-roads game drives, ostrich, giraffes, gazelles, elands, zebras, the wildebeest migratory herds and plenty of predators hence lions, cheetahs, jackals and hyanas. If lucky also leopards, wild dogs, striped hyenas and caracal. Fortuitous, unplanned encounters with the Masai people.

In central Serengeti: leopards, crocodiles and hippos.

in the Ngorongoro crater: elephants, buffalos, rhinos, lions, cheetahs. Leopards if lucky.
