Rift Safari
Traveling along the Rift Valley: Ruaha River Lodge

Ruaha River Lodge, the first lodge to be built in 1982 in the Ruaha National Park, is nestled between two kopjes along the banks of the Ruaha River. This is a a rustic facility, similar for certain aspect to an alpine mountain hut. Its location, along the only river never getting completely dry is about to be enviable.

The only drawback, understanding this is not a high-end facility, is the high number of cottages: 20 of them subdivided into 3 smaller camps
The main camp is set on the first kopje with a view on the river bend
. It consists of 9 stone cottages with thatch roof, well harmonized with the surrounding environment and of a bar located right on top of the kopje with stunning 360 degree views.
The Kopje Camp is set back from the river and built around the second kopje. Rooms are better located if compared with the ones of the main camp but the view from the bar is less exhilarating.
The River Camp is set along the river bank. Architecturally it's less interesting than the two above-mentioned camps, but the presence of elephants that wander among the cottages recover the full value.

All cottages have en-suite bathroom and solar powered hot shower. Video devices and cameras need to be recharged at the bar and restaurant where eletricity is provided by a generator until 23.00.
