Mikumi National Park

Mikumi is located about 250 km far from Dar Es Salaam and it is part of the wider Selous ecosystem.

Because of the TanZam highway passing through the park and splitting it in two affecting the area with the highest concentration of wildlife, the park has lost much of its charm and it is in fact unable to attract visitors by itself except Dar Es Salaam residents who consider it a week-end destination and budget visitors travelling to Selous and Ruaha by 4x4 instead than flying in.

Animals commonly sighted in the park include zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest and impala. There are also giraffes, elephants and lions even if more rarely encountered.
