Lemala Kuria Hills is a small high specification camp located in the northern Serengeti, about one hour game driving from the Mara River. This new camp is due to open on June 2013.

This sector of the park hosts throughout the year many resident species but, from July to October with the wildebeest migration roaming all around and crossing the river from one side to another while straddling the border between Kenya and Tanzania, it really becomes the best place of Serengeti for migration viewing and even if the camp is not located very close to the river [about 50 minutes far away] it still remain a good option to gain access to this area. When booking Lemala Kuria we do not plan the early morning game drive to the river coming back to the camp for breakfast instead we deem it is preferable to eventually leave the camp early in the morning with packed breakfast and return back for lunch and some relaxation, which makes sense since you will most probably like to enjoy the facility itself as well ... obviously unless you wish to spend the whole day out. [Before departing with breakfast box, an early morning cup of tea or coffee can be served in the verandah of your tent].

The camp consists of 10 rooms where natural materials, canvas and glass have been combined together and are raised on recycled steel decks onto which a timber floor has been laidwooden. They all have a double bed or two twin beds, a sitting area with glass sliding-doors leading to the outside deck, en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, flush toilets and shower. The outdoor deck features a under cover sitting area, a plunge pool and an outside shower. Electricity is supplied 24 hrs and generated by solar panels and wind.

The camp is complemented by the bar, the lounge and library, the restaurant serving fire-wooded pizza, barbecues and traditional Japanese tapenyaki, a treatment centre, a gift shop, the swimming pool and a boma where guests can enjoy the open fire or an outside dinner. WiFi is available in the main area.

Short walking safari nearby the camp, escorted by an armed ranger and guide, can be arranged but need to be prebooked and guests have to be at the camp within 15:30. Note that walking safari never aim to get close to wildlife.

In July/August/September/October Lemala Kuria Hills needs to be booked well in advance in order to get room. In all other months availability should not be a problem. All mobile camps will have moved out and Lemala Kuria along with Sayari, Nomad Lamai Camp and Serengeti Bushtop remain the only few facilities in the whole Serengeti Mara.
