Grumeti River Camp is a permanent high specification tented camp located nearby
a loop of the Grumeti River along the Serengeti western corridor, about 50 km away from Lake Victoria. This is an excellent
location between May and June when the wildebeest migration is passing through and crossing the river literally infested with huge Nile crocodiles.

The camp is run with the usual professionalism and competence of &Beyond.
It consists of ten safari tents, sheltered from the sun by a thatched roof. Each tent, furnished and decorated with vibrant colours, features en-suite bathroom with al fresco shower and outdoor verandah. Electricity is provided 24/24 hours by generator.

Hippos, Nile crocodiles, many species of birds and colobus monkeys are sighted throughout the year directly from the camp which is complemented by the lounge, the little swimming pool and a gift shop. Meals are usually served al fresco except ... of course ... in case of rain.

In order to reach the camp you will cross by 4x4 a cement bridge over the river. Should the river be in flood you will walk through a flying bridge and a vehicle of the camp will collect you on the other bank.

If you wish to stay at Grumeti River Camp in May and June you have to book at least 8 - 9 months in advance or you will hardly get a room. During all other months availability should not be a problem but the area loses most of its relevance to become just a pleasant backwater.
