If you love fishing the best place to stay at in Mafia is La Lua Cheia.
This tented lodge has got a fully equipped boat with deep sea and inshore fishing tackle, electronics and safety equipment for up to four fishermen and is powered by twin Yamaha engines.

If you wish it is also possible to to split your stay between Zanzibar and Mafia or we can arrange charters boat trips, three to five days long. Boats are fully set up for up to five people and equipped to the highest international safety standards. They also have the latest fishing technology with GPS navigational aids, echo sounders and fish finders.

There are two very definite fishing seasons here: the Yellow fin Tuna season which runs from August through to the end of October and the Marlin season which runs from December to mid of March.

Striped Marlin: the prime Marlin season runs from mid December to mid of March. At the end of the season the fish are much larger than average.
Black and Blue Marlin: during August to end October large Blues and Blacks can be found amongst the Tuna however the the prime Marlin season runs from mid December to mid of March.
Broadbill: all year but best in October, November and March when the seas are very calm. Beginning of December before the wind goes round to the north-east can also be an excellent time for Broadbill fishing.
Sailfish: are seen and caught throughout the fishing season but most prolific during December and January.
Shortbill Spearfish: mid November to end of March with December being the best month.
Tuna: August to October provides excellent sport for Tuna.
